About our soaps

All Soapyard soaps are made in a small, family-run artisanal soap factory located in the Marseille region of Provence. Each soap can be used as a soap on a rope , with a magnetic wall mount , or simply as a classic round soap in a soap dish.

Our signature feature: the central hole , present on all our custom-made soap bars. It allows you to insert an interchangeable cord, practical for hanging the soap so that it remains clean, dry and hygienic between uses.

If you choose a colored cord, the shade may vary and will not always match the photo. Each cord supplied is a length of hand-sealed paracord , reusable with a new soap refill or repurposed for another use.

Our soaps are enriched with organic shea butter , known for its nourishing and protective properties, which reduces the feeling of dryness often associated with some industrial soaps. They are perfectly suited for daily use.

No parabens , no synthetic fragrances , no animal fats : the base is composed exclusively of vegetable oils , without genetically modified ingredients. Our soaps are vegan* and cruelty-free , and as always, not tested on animals.

They are triple molded , a process that eliminates excess water and air to obtain a hard, dense and durable soap that does not become soft.

As with any handcrafted product, each piece may have slight variations: a soap can react differently depending on humidity, heat or ambient light.

Our fragrances are created using local natural sources , according to a traditional recipe passed down through generations. All our soaps are detergent-free , paraben-free , and always handcrafted .
Taking care of your soaps

Like all natural and handcrafted products, each soap may exhibit slight variations. Its behavior may also change depending on humidity, heat, or ambient light.

To prolong their lifespan, keep them dry between uses and avoid leaving them soaking in water or on a wet surface.

If small cracks appear, it's simply moisture evaporating: this is a normal phenomenon. Just smooth them out with your fingers or under a light stream of water.

When your soap becomes too small, it's even possible to melt it down and reshape it . Do your research beforehand and only attempt this by following reliable instructions.
Scent

The fragrances used in our soaps come from Grasse , in Provence, recognized as the world capital of perfume .
About the supplied rope

The rope supplied with our soaps is a hand-cut PPM paracord , approximately 60 cm long. It is also called parachute rope, sailing rope, or nautical rope.

PPM paracord floats , dries quickly , gets very dirty, and doesn't mold, making it an ideal choice for hanging soaps. It's also supple , pleasant to the touch, and easy to tie and untie if you want to adjust the length.

Our ropes are made of nylon , OEKO-TEX® certified, which guarantees the absence of harmful substances and safe use for both humans and animals. They are produced either in the United States or in the European Union .

Paracord can be machine washed at a maximum of 30°C.

Numerous videos exist (not related to Soapyard) to teach you how to cut , finish , or reuse paracord. It can easily have a second life: bracelets, dog leashes, clotheslines, creative accessories…

Warning :

Since the paracord is hand-cut , it's normal for the ends to remain raw. Any modifications (trimming, finishing, changing the length, etc.) are done at your own risk . We cannot exchange the cord. If it frays slightly, you can shorten it or apply your preferred finish, following reliable safety instructions.

For us, paracord is a zero waste product , because it can be reused and repurposed in many ways.

Instructions for using soap bars

Wet your hands and the soap, lather it up, wash yourself and then rinse thoroughly.

Our soaps are suitable for daily use on hands, body and face.

All our soaps contain organic shea butter. However, particularly sensitive skin may sometimes appreciate even richer formulas, such as those based on nourishing oils or donkey milk, which help to further preserve the hydrolipidic film.

If your skin is very reactive or prone to discomfort, it may be wise to try the soap on a small area of ​​your forearm to check for any reaction, although this is rare.

An unopened bar of soap will keep perfectly for several years. As it dries over time, it will harden and wear out less quickly during use, although its fragrance may slightly diminish.

Simply avoid storing soaps with very different scents side by side: the more intense scents might overpower the more delicate ones.

While you wait to use them, your soaps can be put to good use: they pleasantly scent wardrobes and drawers, and some people even place them among their clothes as a natural moth repellent. Their variety of colors also makes them attractive decorative elements in the bathroom.

Once opened, rinse the soap after each use and store it in a dry place between washes. Avoid damp edges of the sink or bathtub, as well as soap dishes that retain water. Soap that remains damp tends to soften, lose its fragrance, and lather less effectively.
What is the base for making soap?

The list of ingredients is provided in the legal INCI format, but these terms can sometimes seem a bit technical. Here is a simpler and more readable explanation.

The base of all our soaps is composed of vegetable-based fatty acids (vegetable oils and butters). In most cases, this is palm kernel oil , extracted from the fruit and kernel of the palm tree, and coconut oil . It also contains a little water , natural glycerin (a natural byproduct of saponification), and sodium edetate , which prevents the soap from going rancid and ensures a good lather even with hard water.
Soap dries out my skin, unlike shower gel.

Shower gels seem gentler because they are mostly made of water, but they often contain synthetic surfactants and perfumes that are not suitable for all skin types.

A well-formulated soap is not more aggressive: our soaps are superfatted with organic shea butter , which makes them nourishing and limits feelings of tightness.

Each skin type has its preferences:

  • Gentle oils (olive, argan, wheat germ) are suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Donkey milk soaps are highly appreciated by those with delicate skin.

And for perfect comfort, a little cream or moisturizing lotion after showering is more than enough.
It contains palm oil: isn't that bad for health and the forest?

Palm oil is often criticized, but a distinction must be made between its use in food and its use in soap.

In the diet, when consumed in excess, it can cause problems.

In soap, there is no risk: the oil is completely saponified, remains on the surface of the skin and is immediately rinsed off. It does not enter the body.

We use it because it naturally produces a rich lather and effective cleaning power , eliminating the need for synthetic agents. We also offer palm oil-free ranges for those who prefer them.

From an environmental perspective, we work with producers committed to a sustainable and certified supply chain (RSPO) . It's also important to remember that approximately 80% of global production is destined for food and biofuel, not soap. Completely replacing palm oil with another vegetable oil would simply shift the problem: palm trees have a much higher yield , which would actually reduce the pressure on the land.

Finally, solid soap remains one of the most ecological choices: very little packaging, concentrated product and long lasting.
